How Often Should You Replace Your Brake Pads at Your Chevy Dealer?

Your brake pads provide additional friction to slow down and stop your Chevy. These pads wear slightly each time you use the brakes. When the pads have worn down to their minimum level, they need to be replaced. As your Chevy dealer, we'd like you to know how often you should replace your pads. Why Do You Need Pads? Pads act as a buffer between the wheel rotors and the brake calipers to enable your brakes to work. The rotors and the calipers are metal and can damage each other if they're in direct contact. The pad also provides additional friction resistance, which stops your car faster. How Do They Work? Brake fluid is forced into the brake hoses when you step on the brakes. This fluid exerts a hydraulic pressure on the calipers attached above your wheel rotors. This hydraulic pressure causes the caliper to close in on either side of the rotor, and this movement brings your car to a stop. The pads fit inside the calipers, so they directly contact your rotors when you use the brakes. more How Often Should You Replace Pads? Your pads work by friction, and this causes them to abrade each time the brakes are used. The exact time for changing your pads varies widely between 20,000 miles and 60,000 miles. The reason for the variance is that braking habits, environmental factors, and driving conditions all play a role in the lifespan of the pads. Your car's service schedule details what we check at different stages of your car's life. When you have a brake service, we routinely check the pads for signs of wear or damage. Signs You Need To Replace Your Pads As we've seen, the time for pad replacement does vary. These are some of the signs that you need to replace your pads right away. Screeching brakes Your pads have to be a certain thickness for them to do their job effectively. New pads are approximately 1/2" inch thick, and when they reach 1/4" thickness, they should be replaced. When a pad has worn down to the level that it needs to be replaced, a small piece of metal becomes visible in the pad. This metal is designed as a warning that it's time to change your pads. The metal piece will scratch against the rotor when you apply the brakes. The loud screeching produced by this is a reminder that you need to change your pads very soon. Grinding Brakes If you don't replace the pads when they start to screech, the friction material will continue to wear off. Once the material has completely worn off, the metal caliper will grab the metal of the wheel rotor. When this happens, you'll hear a grinding sound as the caliper will cut into the surface of the rotor and damage it. Your pads need to be replaced ASAP. If your brakes are showing signs of wear, call us immediately at Blue Ribbon Chevrolet. Our technicians can speedily repair any braking problem.

What Type of New Car Warranty Does the Chevy Dealer Offer?

After you buy a new Chevrolet, you're protected by the generous car warranty for several years. During this time, you won't have to pay for any repairs that aren't caused by an accident or a lack of maintenance. Today, we'll have a closer look at the type of warranty you can expect to receive when you purchase your car from the Chevy dealer.   Every new Chevrolet you buy at the dealership comes with the manufacturer's warranty. This includes bumper-to-bumper cover for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. There is also a powertrain warranty that lasts for five years or 60,000 miles. If there is an issue with the workmanship or one of your car parts, you won't have to pay for the necessary repairs. In addition to the repairs, the Chevrolet manufacturers will also cover the costs of towing your vehicle to the nearest authorized dealership. However, you should note that you won't get free repairs if your vehicle is due for routine maintenance or if it is damaged due to misuse or an alteration. You should always speak to your dealer before making changes to your Chevy because you could void your warranty. more Extra Services Some additional services are included in your Chevy warranty. For example, you won't have to pay for the repairs if there is a hole in your body and sheet metal components during the first six years or 100,000 miles. Another particularly useful feature is the Roadside Assistance plan, which grants you access to trained advisors 24/7. Should you break down while on the road, you can contact roadside assistance and ask them to perform simple services such as towing your car, changing a flat tire, unlocking your vehicle, or jumpstarting your battery. To find out how long you have access to this free service, you should check your car's manual or ask the sales team at the dealership. Your First Maintenance Visit During your first year, you should come to see our dealership mechanics at least once. The initial multi-point inspection, oil change, and tire rotation is free of charge if you use a participating dealer. While every Chevy owner knows that keeping their car in great shape is important, it can be easy to forget about regular maintenance. You should always come to see a dealership-trained technician because they can help you prevent breakdowns and accidents. What's more, you can protect your warranty by having your car serviced regularly. If you have proof of the service record, there's no chance that the warranty will be void due to a lack of maintenance. All new Chevys at the dealership come with a great car warranty, which protects you for 3-5 years. This reduces your risk and allows you to enjoy driving without worrying about the maintenance costs of your vehicle. 5 Amazing Car Safety Features on Today's Chevy Vehicles

With more cars on the road than ever before, it's never been so important to get a car with decent safety features. If you head on over to your local Chevy dealer, you will find that all modern Chevrolets come with tons of innovative, groundbreaking car safety features that will help keep you and your family safe on the road. Here are just a few examples of the safety features you can expect to see on today's Chevy vehicles. Adaptive Cruise Control Old cruise control used to simply keep you driving at a set speed, whereas now, with modern, intelligent cruise control, your car actually reacts to the traffic around you too. To allow for more stoppage space, this adaptive cruise control aligns itself to the speed of the car in front of you; if it slows down, so do you. You can also choose to select the distance you would like your car to keep from the next car. Cruise control just got much safer and more reliable. Cross-Traffic Alert Do you hate backing out of a blind driveway onto a busy road? Well, with cross-traffic alert, these issues are a thing of the past! Mounted on the very rear of the car, these sensors give a warning when traffic is coming down the road you are trying to back onto, giving you more time to react. more Surround Vision With cameras set up all around the sides and back of the car, the surround vision feature can display everything that is happening around you onto an overhead image, meaning you will always know what is going on, even in your blind spots. Never will you need to rely on your passengers to tell you where traffic is or if it's safe to change lanes yet. Forward Collision Alert with Automatic Braking This is your Chevy's last-ditch attempt to save itself and you, should all of the other safety features fail you. Firstly, this system will fire a load of warning messages at you to try to alert you of danger in front of you. If this still doesn't make you slow down then it will apply the emergency brakes to avoid - or at least lessen the damage of - a dangerous collision. Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning To keep you in the correct lane on motorways, this system alerts you whenever you have inadvertently left your lane; technology that is useful in case you've fallen asleep at the wheel. Also, by implementing corrective steering, your Chevy will automatically realign itself with the lanes using its smart lane detecting technology. Well, that's just about it. These are just some of the incredible safety features you'll find on today's Chevys - there are also many more we haven't mentioned - that'll give you peace of mind on the road. Drop by and visit us at Blue Ribbon Chevrolet to take a test drive and see these features working in real life.   image via chevrolet.com

a bowl full of Chinese food

Top Three Chinese Restaurants in and Around Sallisaw, OK

Chinese food has flavors for everyone, from sweet to spicy to savory. Some of the best Chinese food in Oklahoma is available here in Sallisaw, OK and the surrounding area, and we'd like to recommend a few Chinese restaurants we think you'll enjoy. China Harbor Super Buffet Find this great spot at 815 S Kerr Blvd and you'll enjoy really nice people and great service, a roomy restaurant where you can spread out and enjoy yourself, and excellent, fresh food. The prices here can't be beat: this is the perfect spot to take a hungry family. One of the best things about this place is the variety. There's a ton to choose from at the buffet, and if they're starting to run low or you get there late, expect the staff to come by and make sure you don't want them to cook up something for you in particular. There are also some unique offerings here that won't find in most Chinese buffet places. We recommend the crab, shrimp, and mushrooms in particular! more Asian Star Asian Star is at 902 W Ruth Ave, and they offer dine-in, take-out, and delivery. The food here is consistently good, the service couldn't be friendlier, and the prices are quite reasonable. They have a good selection, too, though there's no buffet here. Among the most popular items (and for good reason) are their great chicken sticks and spring rolls. The General Tso's chicken here is amazing, and even the plain lo mein is something to write home about. You also need to try their orange chicken, beef with broccoli, and the pepper steak with onions. If you're up for something special, get the honey chicken or the Four Seasons: beef, chicken, pork, and shrimp with vegetables in the house special sauce. Dkones Eggrolls If you're on the road or up for a little drive, Dkones Eggrolls is an interesting spot with great takeaway. You'll find this place at 473077 E 1051 Rd in Muldrow: be aware that they're closed on Mondays. There's not a huge selection here, but you're not going to care because what they do make is so amazing. Their egg rolls are absolutely to die for, and their fried rice and lo mein keep people in the area willing to drive miles just to have them. And, actually, the service here isn't the best--they are somewhat infamous for being rude--but people will still come for these eggrolls. That's how good they are. Thai Taste Thai & Chinese If you want a night out, head to this place at 816 S Roland Rd in Roland. This is also a perfect spot if you want Chinese but your friend wants Thai. Thai Taste does both very well. The food here is absolutely fresh, homemade, and very authentic. The portions are large and the service is not only fast but also gracious. The eggrolls here are great, the egg drop soup is amazing, and the spicy fried chicken will keep you coming back. These are just a few great places to eat in our community. 5 Reasons to Get an Engine Diagnostic for Your Chevy

When you're driving your car, do you ever find yourself realizing that something is wrong, but you just can't quite put your finger on what it is? What you need is an engine diagnostic: a tool that can help you figure out what's wrong with your car's engine. There are certain signs that will let you know when you need to visit your Chevy dealer to get things checked out. 1. Your "Check Engine" Light Is On One of the most common reasons to get a diagnostic is because your "check engine" light is on. This could be for a variety of reasons, but it's always best to err on the side of caution and get things checked out. 2. Your Car Is Stalling or Hesitating When the car tries to start, if it only starts for a second before stopping again, then there is probably something wrong with the engine, not the battery. A dealer mechanic can take a look at it and tell you what might be wrong so that you can fix it. If your car is hesitating, it's also time for a diagnostic. This means that the engine is having trouble starting up. It could be because of a problem with the spark plugs, fuel injectors, or another part of the engine. more 3. You Hear Unusual Noises Coming from the Engine If you start hearing strange noises coming from under the hood, it's definitely time to get a diagnostic check. These noises could be indicative of a serious problem that needs to be fixed immediately. 4. Your Car Is Running Rough If your car is running rough, it's definitely not operating as it should be. This could be due to a variety of different issues, so a diagnostic will help pinpoint the problem so it can be fixed quickly and efficiently. 5. You Notice a Decrease in Fuel Efficiency If you've noticed that your car's fuel efficiency has decreased significantly, it's likely due to an issue with the engine. A diagnostic check will help identify the problem so you can get it fixed and start saving money at the pump again. How Does Your Dealer Do a Diagnostic? When you bring your car in for a diagnostic check, your dealer will hook it up to a special computer that can read the codes that are being generated by the engine. This computer is specifically designed to work with Chevys, and it can help the dealer pinpoint the problem so they can get it fixed quickly and efficiently. In some cases, they may need to take your car for a test drive to further diagnose the problem.   If you've noticed any of these issues with your car, it's definitely time to get a diagnostic. Your dealer has the tools and expertise to quickly identify the problem and get it fixed so you can get back on the road again.
